Coronavirus: Schools closed until further notice

Following an announcement this Thursday, March 12, 2020 by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, schools will close their doors this Friday evening until further notice. In question, the health crisis of the Covid-19 coronavirus which now affects the whole country. This radical measure aims to protect students but also to limit the spread of the virus.

Thus, 12 million students are affected by this measure, not counting the agents of national education who will at the same time be exempted.

How will the students continue their education?

Although students will no longer travel, education for colleges and high schools is not suspended.

In order to ensure whatever happens "the pedagogical continuity" of the pupils, distance education will therefore be set up for teaching up to high school. The intranet platforms of establishments, already widespread, will be popular more than ever. These digital workspaces should allow students to follow lessons, do exercises and interact with teachers. Schools will have to take the necessary measures to monitor their education in the best possible conditions and, if necessary, direct students who do not have the necessary equipment to additional solutions.

The online platform developed by the CNED called "My class at home" will be at the heart of this process for a universal solution allowing access to educational resources and programs adapted to each level. The platform will register a large number of connections from Monday and should be able to support nearly 15 million simultaneous connections.
